bit o' zest.
I do not go to ch of England-there is nothing else-so I read &wrote up in my quiet room. I told Hannah she was "a snob" & she said [here entry goes on to space for 10/23] she must admit she dearly loved a lord. RPS said he too felt quite set up when he had interviews with the Queen of Holland, Empress of Germany (A...neta) Grand Duchess of Baden "and the like o' that." But they recognize I hope that this is but man's love of power& whatever represents it & is to be replaced by a slow process-by the love of Love-that "never faileth." "Love moves the sun & all the other stars" said Dante-it is God's truth. We rode our 14 miles once more& took tea with Mrs. Rogerson who has a home for boys & girls-one of the most remarkable characters I have ever known-more of her anon. He is mad poor fellow-[...] or he would not take up spooks& her." (That was her verdict.) Alas& alas.

Letters came from my beautiful one-full of her now unequalled charm, courage, wit& patience. She& Alys Smith made a droll picture book for Bess & me-surprisingly good (in view of their small materials. It has 20 pages but,Bess' & mine had 40. Both must be kept as soouvenirs of the movement! They had a hard passage I fear-both sick. But Cossie is a wonderfully brave,
