The house seems quiet & lonely enough without the two bright lights. Mrs Andrew & Dr Bushnell have taken meals here with us today and have been very pleasant company. I have a terrible cold resembling influenza but shall not "give up" to it if I can help it. Have had a good chance to dictate and am only sorry that I feel so inadequate to improve the opportunity of Edith's help. Have attende to many important things however.

Busy all day with letters and getting moved into the little new iron house built for secretaries etc. Frances & Lady Henry arrived toward eve completely tired out & F with beginnings of a cold. They had started from Eastnor at 6 A.M. and have been in London all day! Somers case having been complicated by his grandmother's decision that a physician must go with him to America-Dear Lady Henry has not a moments peace. Never saw anyone so harried.

Great decisions for quiet Sunday and matters started in well to that end, but Mrs. Smith arrived "middle day" and then things were lively on B.W.T.A. themes. In the twilight they went to Prior and interviewed Mrs Andrew & Dr Bushnell on the "Chu.la's & Cantonements [AG's spelling] Maid...." for Herald getting their replies to Lord Roberts Other articles were written after the latest kind of a dinner. Tomorrow dear Lady H goes to London to be a week with Somers.

Great bustling about until 947 when Lady H went to London. Miserable letter from Dr. Broadbent who said he would withdraw his certificate if an English physician did not go with Somers & proposed his own son. Lady H. went off heavy hearted. F at work all day with letters but stuffed up with bad cold. Mrs. Andrew & Dr Bushnell came over at dinner time and we had good talk. Dr. Bushnell far from well.

Mrs. Andrew & Dr. Bushnell said goodby this morning. They are going to Southport where they hope Dr Bushnell will get better. Frances is better and this morning did not cough at all on waking. We have worked hard all day. Mr. Stead has spent hours here getting his material for character sketch of Lady H. He was most entertaining on the subject of his "pilgrim's" plan at 3 o clock tea.
