And shall go hence tomorrow."

And now we hope & pray to hear soon that the Darlint is safe on shore! We cabled our loving welfare in expectation. I would that word were come from Somey! But I trust that all is well. Nannie sent me splendid letters today. About the World's Fair which she says is fairylike & our exhibit of World's & Nat WCTU the best among the women's. I learn [?] my nephew Frank is at my "Eagle's Nest" in Hudson Highlands-but he never writes for which I'm sorry. He has an article on "German Tramps" in the Century and is developing a talent with his pen. Mary B Willard's sister my former nice pupil Ella Merwin has rented the north side of Rest Cottage. We went out 2 hours riding in pleasant sunshine. I called at cottage & I [s..] Mrs. Cos[....] (mere).

We were saved from all anxiety by the receipt of 2 cablegrams-one from the steamship Co. & a little later one from Cossie "safe- well-love-somerset." Bess is a dear; so spiritual, tender & altruistic. I am getting "out o' the words"' on several things. Reading about Shelley at Oxford. How much he thought about that other folks don't! Reading too about the Tractarian movement. How uncongenial to me is every form of ritualism.

His epitaph shows his philosophy: "Hiram Golf shoemaker by the grace of God." RPS & HWS are very good to me & they are friends I would turn to in trouble. Heaven bless them for their goodness to many. Dear little Annie Holdsworth here (a new writer) St we had a good talk of God & Humanity, of her history, joys & griefs, of W.T.Stead & his strange ways, of Isabel& her journal.

Got off 2 sketches to Mr Atkins "Young Woman." Rode a lot. Mrs. Bramwell Booth & Mrs. Walker came-leaders in Salvation Army; met them at station & had helpful talk of vegetarianism-Dr Page's Natural Remedy has helped her greatly-nuts & fruit are her chief portion & her children's; she has six & they are never ill; Bramwell B. ditto. I mean to take some of her suggestions. She entered into a "gentle labor" ("had a concern") for me religiously. But I told her "I had suffered much of many
