Rhone Elacir [?]St Briez[?]

All day jingling down the pleasant valley-five horses, 1st rate driver-[.....] courage. We were often on the edge of things & Cossie turned her [......] to the wall. How curious! She doesn't fear horses-I do; my terror of lightning is almost gone-hers has not. I do not fear high roads &precipices-she does. How senseless these distinctions, doubtless based on the bias of experiences personal to each. Hilsch is a village so unmodified by tourists that we fell in love with it. Little birdies in& out of the pretty glass-door-windowed breakfast room, flower gardens, homelikeness. We would stay but for the heat. Go [..] three hours today to Villars recommended by Little Andrew &Kate Bushnell. Richard C Trench whose word-studies I so enjoyed was there when they were & thereby hangs an interesting tale. Mary Sims-lsabel' s maid-is so good& obliging-so different from her former one with her reserve rights-He who gives shall get all-
