We are getting anxious about F. because the fever although slight does not disappear and in her depleted condition we cannot bear to have anything the matter. Lady Henry has been at home all day today. If F. is not better in the aft she is going to send for an old family physician whom she has great confidence in and let him consult with Dr. Hewetson. Frank's heart is broken because she cannot go to the Hyde Park Demonstration in favor of Direct Veto tomorrow. Tis hard to be sick in bed.

Lady Henry has telegraphed for Dr, Holman to come down so that he can tell the nice young Dr. here what is best. But F. is clearly better this morning.
Lady Henry went to London at 115 heavy hearted that she could not take Frances with her to the Demonstration. At 1030 she returned perfectly worn out but said the Pageant was magnificent the finest ever witnessed in London. She rode in elegant carriage banked with flowers. F's fever up again tonight

Dr. Holman came at noon with Dr. Hewetson. He is a fatherly looking man most kind & genial. He says F. has no organic disease but simply must rest if she ever expects to be well enough to do any efficient work hereafter. Urges her to give[?] up entirely except a few hours pleasant literary work each day. Says she cannot go to meetings as a looker on. Her temperature is normal today and we are immensely relieved. Poor darling she has paid dearly for her week in London.

F. has gained a little today, and has been carried downstairs to the pretty drawing room. She is pale and weary but we are intensely relieved that no serious illness has developed out of this feverish attack.

June 13, 1893

Another day of quiet and convalescence on F.'s. part. Lady H. had to go to London, and I read aloud a great deal to F. Lady H. has a very nice nurse for her.

June 14, 1893

F. out on the pretty lawn nearly all day and in her rocking chair reading and being read to. F. is so good and blessed to have her downstairs again.
