worked late on my final proof sheets.

I feel immensely relieved not to be "puttering" on my poor dear old "An. Ad." Shall now take outings & try to build up. I seem better than in Switzerland & but for commands of Sir B.W.Richardson, Isabel, Anna & my folks over yonder I would go across sea even if not to the Convention but they all say Lady Henry will fill the bill & I know how wholly true that is. But I am not the one that sends my Little One-her boy requested her to meet him-and she says she vastly "chooses it to my going & staying as she knows I should." Heavenly Father send her safe & bring her back in peace & health & holiness.

Worked with Edith & had quite a "clarin up" with her & Georgia Leaney, also a nice stenographer. Then went on the bicycle-& for a wonder under nice L's teaching learned a lot about balancing. I am bound to become mistress of that instrument-& I believe it will yet be adapted to air & water & perhaps "I shall live to see. "

The Priory grounds are lovely these dreamy last living days of the year. We saw Miss Shipton-Bess & I-out in the bath chair with wh. Isabel has fitted out her former (drinking but reforming!) groom. Lots of letters from home-Dear Nan is well. Alas that Isabel must cross the stormy sea! How can we let her go!

Sent my watch to the poor starving miners-it was all I had to give as my salary goes for expenses of Rest Cottage & those therein &c in America. Nothing ever did me so much good as to send it-in a "money way" I mean. I told the Chronicle (a Kingdom of Heaven daily paper that is raising a fund) not to mention the source. Dear Eliza Paine of Boston won't "mind"-she gave it me. Wonderful speech by Rev Adderly of London at Church Congress on the labor question-full of gospel marrow. Ritualists have it all their own way, though-just as well-"Whom the Gods destroy they first make mad." Delicious note from my blessed "Sumpter Coz"- says the recalcitrant women of York were implacable. The Co. will now be worked up for B.W.T.A. Tender cables from my dear comrades in N.Y. & [entry continues in space for 10/6] Mass. state WCTUs- replies returned. Australian white ribboners coming to see me today.

Had pleasant time with,Mr & Mrs. Alex Begg of Melbourne-he a cousin of Lord Overton [?]They asseverated that Miss Kate Marsden is an out & out fraud-l hope not of set purpose but because she has had brain fever & is a little off. However we cannothave herin the movementforshe is not to be trusted-alas.
